Back to School in a Breeze!
Are you all ready to be back at school?
Going back to school is one of the most exciting times of the year! You get to reconnect with all of your friends who may have been away on vacation and meet some new friends too. Each year is different but here are some tips (and gifs) to help you plan the best first day EVER!
10 ways to prepare for the first day of school!
Get school supplies- School districts have made this so easy! Go online and see what supplies your grade is suggesting, the fun part comes when you get to pick the colors, patterns, and designs of your notebooks and other materials. I may be a bit older than you all but Lisa Frank patterns were all the rage when I was in school.
Meet your teacher- Meeting your teacher before the first day of school is one of the best ways to guarantee you are familiar and comfortable arriving on day one. It’s no fun walking into a new place with new people if you’re nervous. So, by introducing yourself to your teacher for the year before school starts, you will have at least one familiar face in class.
The Night before:
Pack your backpack- Make sure you have all of those school supplies you picked out ready to go in your backpack. This will make your morning a breeze!
Lay out your clothes - Did you get some awesome new back-to-school clothes? Plan out what you’re going to wear on the first day to leave a great impression with your new teacher and classmates. But remember, always be yourself and dress the way you feel most comfortable!
Go to sleep at a decent hour- If you’re anything like me, there are two days a year when it is impossible to get some shut-eye: Christmas Eve and the first day of school! I don’t know what it is, maybe just anticipation and excitement! Odds are you have been staying up later than usual during the summer, so laying down for bed early may be difficult, but just try to rest, close your eyes, and think about how much fun you’re going to have this year! A good night’s sleep will make you feel so much better about waking up early to catch the bus!
The Morning of:
Wake Up Sleepy Head! -Speaking of early wake-up times…make sure you wake up a little earlier than you normally would on a regular school day. The first day brings a lot of excitement for you and your parents, waking up just a smidge earlier than normal will give you a better chance of having a smooth and relaxing morning.
Brush Your Teeth and Hair – This one’s a no-brainer. Make sure your breath and hair are fresh!
Eat a yummy breakfast- It’s a special occasion, maybe you can switch it up from pop tarts and cereal to toast and eggs. After all, it’s the most important meal of the day!
Pack a filling lunch- Some kids eat school lunch and some bring lunch from home. So, don’t forget your lunch money if you eat school lunch AND if you bring lunch, make sure you pack something healthy like a sandwich, fruit, and veggies! Eating a nutritional and filling meal will help you make it to the end of the day without getting those annoying tummy grumbles!
Say Cheese! - Remind mom or dad to take your first day of school picture, you can take one on the last day of school and compare how much you’ve grown this year! You will be surprised how much you change in just 2 semesters of school!
You guys are going to have a great time this year meeting new friends, joining new clubs, and learning new things! Let me know how your first day goes in the comments below.
